I discovered this video which I am sure will be of interest to people with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Stonehaven.




The video shows old photos of Stonehaven, the old county town of Kincardineshire, which grew around an Iron Age fishing village, now The Auld Toon which expanded inland from the seaside.

As late as the 16th century, old maps indicate the town was called Stonehyve or Stonehive.

Nowadays it is known informally to locals as Stoney.
